Courier bags that arrive sealed, not resealed

An e-commerce return dispute usually comes down to one question: could the bag have been opened on the way? A proper tamper-evident seal answers it. We make LDPE courier bags with security tape that tears the film if anyone tries.

Courier bags are one of the few products we quote per piece as well as per kilo, because that is how fulfilment teams budget. Ask for both numbers. The per-kg figure is what tells you whether the gauge is honest.

What makes a courier bag tamper-proof (and what does not)

Nothing stops a determined thief with a blade. What a good courier bag does is make interference obvious, so the liability question has an answer. Three features do the work:

Security tape that destroys itself

A permanent adhesive on a film that fails before the bond does. Lift the flap and either the tape delaminates into a fuzzy mess or a hidden VOID pattern appears. Either way, the receiver can see it. Cheap mailers use ordinary tape that peels clean and re-sticks. That is the single biggest difference between a five-rupee bag and a nine-rupee bag.

Opaque film

A courier bag should not advertise what is inside it. We run co-extruded or masterbatch-loaded film that blocks light, usually black inside and white or brand-colour outside.

A seal that survives the sorting belt

Parcels get thrown, stacked and dragged. The failure point is almost never the middle of the bag, it is the side seams. We run a wider seal on courier film than on general poly bags, because a burst seam in transit looks exactly like tampering to the customer, and you will pay for it either way.

Customer claimed the item was missing. The bag looked fine, so we had no way to prove anything either way.
PARAPHRASED FROM A SELLER-COMMUNITY THREAD ON RETURNS FRAUD

That is the whole business case for tamper-evident tape. It is not about security theatre, it is about being able to close a dispute.

How thick should your courier bag be?

Over-specced mailers are the most common waste we see in e-commerce packing. Under-specced ones cost more, in claims. Rough guide:

MicronSuitsWatch out for
50 micronApparel, textiles, soft goods, documents, anything with no cornersSharp zip pulls and buttons can still puncture. Fold the garment inward.
60 micronThe default for mixed e-commerce. Books, boxed goods, cosmetics, small electronicsNothing much. This is the safe middle for most sellers.
70 to 80 micronHeavy items, multi-unit packs, hardware, anything over 2 kg or with hard cornersCost per piece rises fast. Consider a box instead above 5 kg.

One more lever people forget: size. A bag two inches too big on every side wastes film on every single order. Measure your three most-shipped products and order sizes that actually fit them. On 50,000 shipments a year, that is real money.
