LDPE liner bags for drums, cartons and containers

A liner bag has one job: keep your product off the container wall. Clean fills, clean tips, no scrubbing drums between batches. We make LDPE liners for 25 to 220 litre drums, cartons, crates, FIBC bags and shipping containers.

One tip that saves money: measure your container, not your old liner. Liners get over-specced all the time. A 100 micron liner inside a drum that never ships loose product could often be 75 micron. That is a 25% saving per liner, forever. How to pick micron →

Sizing a drum liner so it actually fits

A liner that is too small tears when the drum is filled and a liner that is too big folds into the product. Both are avoidable with two measurements. For a cylindrical drum, the lay-flat width you need is the drum circumference divided by two plus roughly 25 to 50 mm of ease, and the length is the drum height plus enough over the rim to fold and tie, usually 150 to 300 mm. A standard 200-litre drum works out to about 30 inches lay-flat by 48 inches long.

For box and crate liners the arithmetic is different: a gusseted liner sized to the internal length, breadth and height of the carton sits into the corners instead of bunching. Send us the carton internal dimensions and we will work out the gusset for you rather than asking you to convert it yourself.

If you already use liners and they are fine, the fastest route is to send one. We measure the lay-flat, the gusset, the length, the micron and the seal type and reproduce it. That removes the single most common cause of a wasted first order.

Micron, resin and what the contents dictate

Content weight and sharpness set the gauge. Free-flowing powders and granules sit comfortably at 50 to 75 micron. Liquids and semi-solids that put hydraulic load on the seam want 100 to 150. Anything with edges, castings, hardware, cullet, needs 150 to 200 and often a wider bottom seal. Over-specifying is not free: bag weight goes up linearly with micron, and liners are bought by the kg.

Resin choice is the other half. Virgin food-grade LDPE with an IS 9845 migration test for edible oils, food ingredients and pharma intermediates. Standard virgin resin for chemicals and industrial powders. We do not put recycled content into food-contact or pharma liners at all, whatever the price pressure, which is covered on the quality and specs page.

Where liners go from here: pharma packing for documented clean-packed material, food packaging for edible-contact grades, and the micron and thickness guide if you want to reason through the gauge yourself before asking us.
