From a family in aquaculture to a factory

Coming from a family with an established background in aquaculture, Jose developed a keen interest in the sector and wanted to build a business that could contribute to its growing ecosystem. While exploring opportunities within the industry, he identified a specific requirement in the market: the need for reliable and suitable packaging for shrimp seed transportation and distribution.

This led to the establishment of Eco Industries, initially focusing on the manufacturing of LDPE (low-density polyethylene) bags designed specifically for shrimp seed packaging. Eco Industries supplies these bags to shrimp hatcheries, where they are used for packing and transporting shrimp seed to aquaculture farmers. That original product is still the one the company is measured by: seed and fry transport bags, where a seam has to hold ten litres of water for a ten-hour road journey with a live animal inside.

FOUNDER'S VISION
“My interest in aquaculture started with my family, but my entrepreneurial journey began by identifying a need within the industry and finding a way to serve it.”
Jose Samuel Raj, Founder & CEO

The operating principle

Jose's approach to building Eco Industries has been driven by a simple principle: identify a genuine requirement within an industry, understand the customer's needs, and develop products that serve those requirements effectively.

An MBA graduate from Great Lakes Institute of Management, Jose combines his management education with his entrepreneurial mindset and his family's experience in aquaculture. This combination has helped shape his understanding of the industry's requirements and the importance of building reliable, long-term business relationships.

It is also why this site publishes its tolerances rather than its adjectives. If a spec is going to be held to for years, both sides should be able to read it. See what we document per lot →

Customers across the hatchery and aquaculture sector

Over the years, Eco Industries has built relationships with customers across the sector, including:

Raj Hatcheries Madras Private Limited
BMR Groups
Lotus Sea Farms
Seaway Hatchery Pvt Ltd
Golden Marine Harvest

Where the company is going

Since its inception in 2021, Eco Industries has focused on becoming a dependable packaging partner for the aquaculture industry, with a broader ambition to grow alongside the sector and explore opportunities across the aquaculture value chain.

In practice that has meant the same blown-film lines now running liner bags, food-grade bags, sheet, film and covers for food, pharma, construction and agriculture buyers, without giving up the hatchery work the company was built on.
