Agricultural plastic has one enemy and it is overhead all day. UV degradation is why cheap grow bags crack in month five and mulch film shreds mid-season. Every agri product we quote is specified in months of sun life, not just micron.
200 to 400 micron, UV stabilised, 8x8 to 24x24 inch, drainage punched to your drawing. Black, or white-outside to keep the root zone cool. Grow bag specs →
Mulch film
25 to 50 micron, black or silver-on-black, width to suit your bed and row spacing. Holds moisture, suppresses weeds, warms or cools the bed depending on colour. Cover specs →
Nursery liners and covers
Tray liners, crate liners and polyhouse covers cut to your dimensions. UV grade for anything outdoors.
BUYING RULE FOR AGRI PLASTIC
Specify months of sun, not just micron
Non-UV film in Indian sun starts going brittle in four to six months, whatever its thickness.
UV stabiliser packages are sold in life ratings: 12, 24 or 36 months of direct exposure. Match the rating to your crop cycle and you stop replacing plastic mid-season.
For grow bags, 200 to 300 micron up to 12 inch, 300 to 400 micron above that. Wet soil in a big bag is real load on the base seam.
Silver-on-black mulch reflects heat and light upward, which some growers use to cool the bed and confuse pests. Plain black warms the bed and blocks weeds. Pick deliberately.
Mulch film: the numbers behind the practice
Mulching with plastic film does three things at once, and each one is measurable on a farm.
Water. Film over the bed stops evaporation from the soil surface, so more of your irrigation reaches the root zone instead of the atmosphere. In drip-irrigated systems this is the main reason growers mulch.
Weeds. Opaque film blocks light, so weeds under it do not establish. That is labour saved every fortnight for the whole season.
Soil temperature. Black film absorbs heat and warms the bed, useful in cooler months and cooler regions. Silver or white reflects, keeping the bed cooler in peak summer.
Thickness and honesty about lifespan
Twenty-five micron film is a single-season product. It goes down, it does its job, it comes up in pieces. Fifty micron with a UV package can be lifted and re-laid for a second cycle if handled carefully. Neither is biodegradable, and anyone selling you "biodegradable LDPE mulch" is selling you a phrase, not a product. If biodegradability is a requirement, that is a different material entirely and we will say so.
