Mumbai is about 1,300 km from our extrusion line at Kovalam. Two things travel that distance well: a documented spec, and film heavy enough to survive a Mumbai monsoon. Small urgent top-ups do not, and we will tell you so.

THE MUMBAI SPEC
Two thousand millimetres of rain changes the gauge
Covers left outdoors for a season: 150 to 200 micron, UV grade, seams taped or welded. Thin film does not fail in the middle, it fails at the tie points.
Ground and damp-proof course on site: 200 micron, laid with generous overlap.
Anything stored on an open yard between June and September should be double protected, because one pinhole plus a week of rain is a rejected consignment.
LDPE resists moisture well and gases poorly. If your product needs a genuine barrier, that is a metallised or laminated structure, not thicker polythene.
When the Tamil Nadu route pays, and when it does not
The MMR has no shortage of converters, several of them within 40 km of your gate. We are not going to pretend distance is free.
It pays when
The spec has to be documented. Food-grade and pharma work with lot-linked reports and resin traceability travels perfectly well, and it is not universally available.
You buy a consolidated monthly volume. One larger dispatch amortises the freight. Three small ones pay it three times.
Gauge variation is costing you. If film is jamming an auto-bagger or a form-fill-seal machine, a supplier who publishes tolerances is worth a longer route.
It does not pay when
The order is small and urgent. Two hundred kilos by Friday is a Bhiwandi job. Buy it in Bhiwandi.
It is lowest-spec commodity film on price alone. A converter down the road will beat our delivered cost, and they should.
