When buying from Tamil Nadu makes sense, and when it does not

Gujarat has plenty of converters. We are not going to pretend distance is free, so here is the honest version.

It makes sense when

• You need a documented spec. Food-grade or pharma work with lot-linked migration reports and resin traceability is not universally available, and it travels perfectly well.
• You are buying a consolidated monthly volume. One larger dispatch amortises the freight; three small ones do not.
• Your current supply is inconsistent. If gauge variation is jamming your line, a supplier who publishes tolerances is worth a longer route.

It does not make sense when

• You need 100 kg by Thursday. Buy locally. We will say so.
• It is commodity garbage bags on price alone. On the lowest-spec, highest-volume commodity work, a converter 30 km away will beat us on delivered cost and they should.

A supplier who tells you when not to buy from them is usually worth listening to when they say you should.

LDPE bags to Ahmedabad: what makes the freight worth it

Ahmedabad and the wider Gujarat belt has no shortage of polythene converters, so a buyer ordering from Tamil Nadu is doing it for a reason: a spec a local supplier would not hold, a food-grade or anti-static requirement with documentation, or a printed bag they were repeatedly getting wrong. Those are the orders we are good at. If you need 40 micron plain bags in a stock size, buy them in Ahmedabad and save the freight, and we will tell you so.

Kovalam to Ahmedabad is roughly 1,900 km and material moves in 3 to 5 days by road. At that distance freight per kg only makes sense on reasonable volumes, which is why we quote it as a separate line instead of hiding it in the rate: you can see immediately whether the total still beats your local number.

What typically travels to Gujarat is food-grade LDPE bags and pouch film for food and dairy packers, drum liner bags for the chemical and pharma clusters around Vatva, Naroda, Odhav and Sanand, and LDPE covers for textile and machinery protection.

Ordering across states without surprises

Inter-state supply is billed with IGST at 18%, HSN 3923 for bags and 3920 for sheet and film, and the e-way bill travels with the consignment. Nothing about the paperwork is unusual, but it is worth confirming with your purchase team before the first order so a shipment does not sit at a checkpost.

For a distance order, get the spec exactly right before production: flat or gusset size in inches, micron, resin grade, print colours, and monthly volume. Send a physical sample if you are switching suppliers. We measure it, match the gauge and seal, and send you a trial piece for approval before the full run leaves the floor, because a 1,900 km correction is expensive for both of us.
